I found some gorgeous ribbons when I was picking up yarn at the craft store today and I thought that I could make some really cute headbands with them!
This is what you need:
Desired Headband Ribbon, Black Ribbon, Black 1/2 inch Elastic
Fabric Glue, Sewing Machine
Step 1:
Cut a piece of elastic so the ribbon will be tight around your head when the elastic is attached and sew it to the middle of the end of the ribbon. I did a double stitch and went over it 5-7 times because this will ensure that the elastic will not rip off.
Repeat on the other side.
Step 2:
If the ribbon you choose is wider than your elastic, like mine, then you will want to taper the ends in. Because this part does not determine the strength of the headband I just did one forward and one backward stitch.
Step 3:
This step is optional, but it adds a nice finished look.
Glue the black ribbon around the ends of the headband where the ribbon and elastic meet to cover the stitches and prevent the ends of the ribbon from fraying. Fasten with fabric glue.
